Capital Markets
Houlihan Lokey’s Capital Markets Group provides capital-raising services for a wide variety of clients, from large, publicly held, multinational corporations to privately held companies either sponsor-backed or founded and run by entrepreneurs. In partnership with our Industry Coverage teams and Financial Sponsors Group, we combine superior sector knowledge and relationships with significant expertise in structuring and syndicating financings.
Our Equity Private Placements team within the Capital Markets Group originates, structures, and executes private financings on behalf of the firm’s corporate and financial sponsor clients across numerous industries. Members of the Equity Private Placements team work closely with a range of sponsor-backed, family-owned, public, and privately-owned clients, as well as with Houlihan Lokey’s industry coverage, M&A, and financial restructuring teams.
The team executes a variety of private financing transactions, such as growth equity, structured equity, Private Investments in Public Equities (PIPEs), co-invest equity, and growth /venture debt placements for a variety of situations, including growth capital, acquisition financings, refinancings, dividend recapitalizations, leveraged buyouts (LBOs) and special situations.
We are one of the largest and most active private capital markets teams on Wall Street with over 150 dedicated finance professionals across 12 offices in 6 countries. For the twelve months ending March 31, 2023, we raised approximately $15 billion of solution-oriented capital and advised on an additional $7 billion across approximately 150 transactions for corporate and private equity clients worldwide. Job Description
Houlihan Lokey’s Equity Private Placement Team within the Capital Markets Group originates, structures, and executes equity financings on behalf of the firm’s corporate and private equity clients. Our team works on transactions that provide exposure to various financing products, techniques, and applications, such as preferred equity, structured equity, and equity / equity-linked securities for a variety of situations, including growth capital, secondary financings, acquisition financing, refinancings, and other special situations.
Members of the team gain incredible exposure to their counterparts at private equity firms, corporations, and sophisticated private capital investors during a transaction process. They also work closely with Houlihan Lokey’s industry coverage, private funds group, M&A, and financial restructuring teams.
Responsibilities:
The Equity Private Placements team is seeking to recruit a Vice President to join the team in San Francisco. As Vice President, you will:
- Work side-by-side with a talented, dedicated staff of seasoned capital raising professionals who will provide broad exposure to the many different considerations affecting equity private placement transactions;
- Assist with evaluating and structuring customized financing alternatives for a range of clients;
- Interact with a variety of investors, including venture capital funds, growth equity funds, private equity funds, hybrid capital funds, co-investment funds, insurance companies, hedge funds, asset managers, and family offices, as well as growth/venture debt providers;
- Gain hands-on transaction experience by playing an integral role on deal teams from the initial pitch through closing;
- Broaden corporate finance and valuation skills relevant to raising capital while building a detailed understanding of key developments in both the private and public capital markets;
- Model pro forma impact to existing equity holders in a client’s cap table;
- Play a key role in preserving and fostering our strong positive culture, including mentoring and training junior professionals; and
- Interact with a broad range of businesses across different industries at different points in their corporate lifecycles, all with unique capital needs.

Qualifications:
- Four or more years of relevant professional experience in a similar role(s) within investment banking/ venture capital / growth equity/ corporate finance
- Undergraduate degree (business/economics degree preferred, but not required) and/ or MBA
- Top academic performer and a quick learner capable of performing in an unstructured environment and executing tasks on time with a proven ability to make complex decisions based upon experience, analysis, and judgment
- Exceptional financial modeling, accounting, finance, and analytical abilities
- Track record of successfully executing transactions from origination through closing
- Demonstrated leadership qualities that are team-oriented and collegial, including the ability to work cooperatively and constructively with all levels of staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven self-starter with a solid work ethic, diligent organizational skills, and careful attention to detail
- High standards of professional and ethical conduct
- Series 7, 63, and 79 securities licenses, or the ability to quickly obtain
Salary Range
Houlihan Lokey is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive total compensation package, which may include other components such as discretionary incentive compensation. The firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible salary range for this role at the time of posting is:
$225,000.00-$250,000.00
Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience and the location where this position may be filled.
